Omicron and IXOLIT have a strong shared history that goes back over 14 years. Both companies have the same view on how recurring business needs to be set-up, in order to scale for a long-term customer commitment. In fact, Omicron played an important role in the creation of some of both IXOPLAN’s and IXOPAY’s features, as due to their specific needs and multi-product offering they required a uniquely flexible solution that they could mold to their specific requirements. How can IXOPLAN support a subscription-based service?
IXOPLAN is a subscription management and billing platform, capable of depicting incredibly complex plans. Omicron uses it to configure and scale customer retention strategies, dunning processes, coupons, special offers, individual landing pages, and member areas. This is all branded to the end customer as Omicron’s subsidiary/product. In fact, Omicron and IXOPLAN worked together to create a state-of-the-art and incredibly complex dunning solution that allows for sophisticated customer engagement.
Omicron also makes use of IXOPLAN’s 3rd party integrations. IXOPLAN has integrated over 200 applications that can be used to improve business performance. Omicron uses the marketing tools available and combines them into their billing platform with the differing channels. The Event Engine also allows Omicron to create automated workflows for its projects in an intuitive web editor, that draws logical conclusions based on its customer’s previous behavior, allowing Omicron to react and plan appropriately.
With IXOPLAN all events and user activities (refunds, upgrades, downgrades, redeemed voucher codes etc.) are stored and can be used as triggers. This data works as a guide to future Omicron marketing activities and they use it to tailor their offerings for specific demographics. The analytics allows Omicron to analyze the usage behavior of its customers.

Why did they choose to migrate their payment system to IXOPAY?
Omicron is an interesting client, as before they decided to use IXOPAY, they had their own payment solution. IXOLIT founder, Rene Siegl, discussed this very dilemma in an article. Omicron recognised that they were putting far too much time and energy into their payments system when they could benefit from a dedicated one that would allow them to focus on their business. Approaching IXOLIT was a logical step as IXOPLAN and IXOPAY were designed to work with each other and the switch was quick and simple.
As an American company with strong ties to Europe, they benefit from a multi-acquirer set-up that allows them to reduce processing fees, they also have access to a variety of local payment methods so they can reach as many demographics as they need according to the different products that they create. IXOPAY is provider agnostic, meaning they have no vested financial interest, giving Omicron the ability to negotiate better deals with any provider they choose. They have the flexibility to add and remove payment service providers depending on their specific needs. The smart routing engine allows Omicron to offer payment methods based on geolocation so that the most popular ones in the country the purchase is being made to appear automatically.
Smart Routing with IXOPAY
The routing engine is an incredibly useful tool, and Omicron uses it to create rules for a variety of its products. As they offer more than one service they can create different rules for each offering, and within that, they can create different rules based on payment methods, geolocation, risk score, and so forth. The combinations are limitless and put Omicron in control. Since working with IXOPAY Omicron has added over 10 different payment providers giving them access to over 50 different payment methods including local and alternative payment methods. The most recent being multisafepay. IXOPAY has a secure PCI-DSS level 1 compliant card vault where client payment data is stored, so if Omicron decides to switch providers the customer doesn’t have to re-enter their payment details, the information is simply taken from the vault and sent to the payment service provider or acquirer of choice.
Fraud Protection and Risk Rules
When selling online there is always a chance of fraud which is why IXOPAY has a built-in risk management engine. The risk engine creates a score-card based on the rules that the user has implemented, this scorecard is then used to determine if the transaction should be processed, pushed to manual review of declined. Omicron worked with IXOPAY to create new risk rules, so that they knew from the get-go that they would be getting the protection they needed. Like the routing engine, Omicron can create risk rules for different products and different payment methods.
What is next?
Omicron will soon be using IXOPAY’s card updater, so any card details that are stored in the PCI compliant vault will automatically be updated so that Omicron does not have to reach out to individuals and ask them to update their payment data. This extension to the IXOPAY tokenization offering means that IXOPAY will handle the majority of Omicron’s payment needs. The long-standing and collaborative partnership means that IXOPAY will continue to grow and adapt to suit Omicron – and its other clients – needs.
