Alternative Payments

The Alternative Payment Method package includes access to PayPal, Venmo, PayPal PayLater, Skrill, Klarna, and Zip, all through a single integration to the IXOPAY platform.

After the initial integration, payment methods can be enabled or disabled individually as business needs evolve, eliminating the need for additional integrations or development work. This gives merchants the flexibility to expand payment choice, adapt to changing customer preferences, and launch new payment options faster.

Alternative payment methods (APMs) help merchants increase conversion, reduce cart abandonment, and reach customers who prefer alternatives to traditional credit and debit cards. By offering trusted payment options such as digital wallets and BNPL, merchants can appeal to a broader range of consumers and improve the checkout experience without requiring customers to change how they prefer to pay.

An Alternative Payment Method (APM) is an overarching category encompassing many types of payment methods, including digital wallets, BNPL, bank transfers, and A2A payments. Digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay are primarily a frictionless way for customers to use their existing credit cards. However, payment methods like Venmo, Skrill, or Alipay are also considered digital wallets, though they operate without a credit card and are tied to bank accounts. Digital wallets are typically enabled through the merchant’s acquirer, but can also be enabled via direct integrations. Adoption is usually driven by a better user experience and lower cart abandonment rates.

APMs either allow a customer to use a credit card in a non-traditional manner (e.g., linking a QR code to a card) or to avoid using a card altogether (e.g., BNPLs, bank transfers, account-to-account payments).

As IXOPAY continues to expand its library of alternative payment methods, new payment options can be enabled directly from the IXOPAY portal, no additional integration or development required.
